History of
Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAp)

In the late 1970s, NASA scientists searched for a cure for Astronauts returning from zero gravity environments that were experiencing bone and tooth enamel loss.

Their treatment included introducing Nano-hydroxyapatite (a naturally occurring mineral that makes up 97% of tooth enamel) into toothpaste to help restore and remineralize tooth enamel.

The mineral was so effective that a Japanese toothpaste company, Sangi, purchased the patent from NASA in 1980 to use in toothpaste. The rest is history.

For over 40 years, nHAp in toothpaste has proven to be the most effective solution for helping to stop tooth decay all over the world.

Dr. Jen’s toothpaste and floss are the only way to go. They are made with only healthy ingredients (check the ingredients on other labels to compare) by a world-known orthodontist. Thank you for making products we can use and feel good about, Dr. Jen!

With many of my patients seeking oral care products free from propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, and artificial flavoring, I did an extension search on natural toothpaste. Dr. Jen’s was the only brand I discovered using safe and science-backed ingredients. I have seen less plaque build-up and stronger enamel with my patients using Dr. Jen’s. This is the only toothpaste I recommend for my patients.

I found Dr. Jen’s toothpaste was the only brand using proper levels of Nano-Hydroxyapatite to be effective with remineralizing enamel..

I loved the CE. I’ve been in dentistry for 17 years and never knew that my prescription-strength fluoride alone can’t do the job in a dry mouth! We’ve been recommending Dr. Jen SuperPaste for our patients, and they love that they can get it from us or online.

It started with a phone call no parent wants

Dr. Jen's daughter, months from starting dental school and following in her mother's footsteps, developed an infection from a fractured tooth. The treatment that followed set off a chain of complications that landed her in the hospital and put her dream on hold for two years.

When she finally came home to recover, doctors gave Dr. Jen one clear instruction: look at every product the family used, down to the toothpaste.

So Dr. Jen made one herself

As a dentist, and an engineer before that, she wanted a toothpaste clean enough to feel good about, and serious about caring for teeth. She couldn't find one that did both. So she started making it in her own kitchen.

That kitchen experiment became seven years of work alongside some of the world's leading toothpaste chemists, formulating with Nanohydroxyapatite, an ingredient widely used in toothpaste across Japan and Europe.

A kitchen experiment that dentists came looking for

Dr. Jen never set out to build a brand. But once the toothpaste was online, dentists across the country started calling, using it for their own families, then asking to bring it to their patients.

That's the standard the brand still holds to: make the toothpaste she'd put in her own daughter's hands.

“I searched health food stores and the internet for a toothpaste with proven ingredients, and came up empty-handed. So I created it.”
